A Social Emotional Intervention

Grant through the Cabarrus Partnership for Children & Smart Start
In 2023, we developed a new program called Let's Play, a Social Emotional Intervention. This therapeutic initiative aims to bridge the gap between childcare centers and home environments. Our Pediatric Developmental Specialists engage directly with parents in their homes, delivering tailored parent training, then create an Individualized Parenting Plan with goals to help their child advance towards his or her development. Simultaneously, our team collaborates with childcare centers, sharing the Individualized Parenting Plan along with strategies to work toward the same goal in the classroom setting. With both the parents and educators working together toward the same goal, implementing parenting techniques and behavior management strategies across both home and childcare environments, we facilitate a reduction in behavioral concerns and an increase in development! Working together as one team to best help the child achieve his or her destiny, greatness!

The Importance of Play in Child Development
Research and global advocacy highlight that play is essential for children to develop key skills across various domains. Through play, children build executive function skills such as working memory, flexible thinking, and self-control. They practice and expand their language skills, enhance their social and emotional understanding, and improve physical abilities like muscle strength, coordination, and balance.
Our Commitment to Play-Based Learning
At K.I.D.S., we integrate play at the core of our curriculum and activities, ensuring children have access to a wide range of materials, including books and games to learn more about emotions, weighted blankets and weighted vests, balancing beams and breathing exercises to address sensory needs. Visual timers, kinetic sand, playdough and puzzles. These resources foster an environment where children can explore, create, and learn through play, while building critical skills in a natural and engaging way.
